Is your heart getting larger with your life?

“Is your heart getting larger with your life?” Pastor Chris asked the congregation last night. He spoke about how life can cause our hearts to shrink if we don’t take a time out and enjoy the things such as music, nature or even spend time with someone who adores us openly. Everyone needs a soul fill up every once in a while to help us enlarge our hearts so that we can show more compassion to others. Here are some heart expanding exercises that he recommended:
*Listen to beautiful music, something that inspires you
*Take time to enjoy beautiful scenery. Look up at the stars at night, enjoy a sunset.
*Have time away, we all need a change of scenery to recharge.

  1. One thing I still remember doing in my childhood, when I lived in Kakinada, my hometown on east coast of India... I used to get away from the home crowd, get on to our roof top, listen to soft instrumental music as I watched the stars and mapped the constellations...

But now I live in a City and rent a flat... Forgot what a night sky looks like! Though, I still listen to music every evening after office...

  2. What a lovely idea. I love the notion of a "soul Fill-up", simple and very true. It's so easy to get caught up in everything- kids, work, relationships, health etc...that we forget to take a step back and enjoy, refuel.
Thanks for the reminder. Your Pastor's words reached a far audience.

  3. VT - It is very cold here in this part of the states. I haven't been outside except to run to my car in weeks! So I can understand not feeling like you know what the sky looks like anymore and I don't even live in a city! India sounds so exotic right now.
